All About Oscar

I'm worn out from painting and thinking for that matter so today it's all about Oscar:

March 4, 1882

I went down to Adams with pa he tried to settle with Maryann but could not I charged my collars and bought a half steak and a martingill (?) A. Parsons stopped to the hay carrier.

March 5, 1882

I have been at home all day I opened the cellar doors to the outside

My life has been a little busier than Oscars, but the narrative will have to wait until tomorrow.

With a Heavy Heart

This will be the shortest post I will ever write but for those who have been following Camera Crazy for any length of time, you know that our sister Carol has been gravely ill.

Early Tuesday morning we flew out to California because we feared she did not have long to live. With the heaviest of hearts, I share that she passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon with Bruce, Nancy and I at her side. Her loving husband of 38 years had slept by her side in a chair for the last few nights, but mysteriously, she chose the time to pass when he had just left for a much needed lunch.

I am so grateful for happy memories of Carol, including this one of she and Nancy (l), taken by Matthew at Bill and Fallon's wedding last March. I so want to think of her laughing in heaven as I type.
We mourn her passing but celebrate that she is no longer suffering as she has for some time now. She put on a brave face for the wedding and looked beautiful as she always has.

Thank you for your prayers my dear…

The Big C

I never referred to Carol as the Big C but others did. Now, I have to wonder what she thought of that nickname. Literally big? Well, she was the tallest of the Price girls that's for sure. Personality wise she had that going for her in a larger than life way as well. And she was beautiful, having modeled when she was young.

Not long ago, I came across this photo of the Price girls taken in 1965 at our grandfather's farm in Missouri; while examining it since I've been home from California, I've wondered if even back then she stood out from the rest of us?
That would be her sitting on the big wheel while the rest of us dutifully lined up on the fence rail. She's the only one of us who has a four year degree and most certainly the only one of us who believed in astrology. Oh how she loved all of that. While we rolled our eyes, she would go on to explain how she picked out their first dog, Astro by his astrology sign. Come to think of it, how did I never realize that A…

14 More Weeks to Go!

While I haven't done the counting myself, a landscaper we talked to on our morning walk today said he manages working in the heat just that way. "Only 14 more weeks!", he proclaimed. God bless those folks who do work in this stifling heat. And, not very long after publishing my last post, we saw the last of rain for five days and counting. This guy appeared on our front walk the morning following our last rainfall.
Nature is so darn amazing, isn't it?

Last Friday our plan was to go to Cocoa Beach and it was a good one, that is until we ran into a problem. Leaving the property, the tire light came on, not something you want to see when you plan on driving 110 miles. WaWa has an air pump and being nearby, that is where we went. The problem was not solved. Heading South on Orange Avenue, we visited the tire place only to be told it would take a few hours until they could get to it. While we could have taken my car at this point, it was getting a little too late for my l…
